The Bishop Union High School Broncos celebrated homecoming Friday, rolling over the Rosamond High School Roadrunners, 55-0.
The Broncos, 7-0 overall, 3-0 in the High Desert League, is scheduled to take on Boron on Friday for a match-up with the Bobcats for the High Desert League championship.
In the Rosamond game, the Bronco defense held its second consecutive shutout. Kaelan Smith had his best game with three tackles for a loss. Reese Dondero had six solo tackles. Cain Omohundro and Aden Arndal each had 10 total tackles and five solos each. Sophomore Austin Powell also had a strong game with three tackles for a loss.
Senior quarterback Jakob Redmond had another big game, completing eight of 13 passes for 163 yards and five touchdowns. Redmond also rushed for a touchdown on senior night. Zach Mojarro had a big night, rushing for 140 yards on just 11 carries. Colt Matteson caught three passes for 36 yards and a touchdown. Cain Omohundro and Walker Rost Kruger each had two touchdown catches.
Cheveyo Marques had a big night in the return game with 95 yards in punt and kick off returns. Stephan Poole had a nice night on special teams with five solo tackles. At halftime, senior guard Shane Norris was crowned homecoming king.
