Fire broke out Friday afternoon at a mobile home park in West Bishop, destroying several homes, though an exact number could not be confirmed as firefighters continued to battle the blaze Friday evening.
The call came in as a fully involved structure fire on Fairview Circle.
The fire had spread into a field adjacent to the mobile home park and U.S. Forest Service personnel were fighting that part of the blaze.
A dozer and a helicopter also were on hand to fight the fire.
An evacuation had been put in place for the Indian Creek area.
According to scanner communications, fire trucks had relay water from other locations because there are no hydrants in the area.
The Eastern Sierra Tri-County Fairgrounds and the Elks Lodge Hall offered to shelter those who had lost their homes, according to scanner communications.
No official statement had been issued at the time of this posting.
