The Eastern Sierra Tri-County Fair Board of Directors on Saturday announced the renaming of fairgrounds' Patio Building to "Chuck's Rodeo Round Up Room" during a Celebration of Life Service for Chuck Kilpatrick, who passed away due to COVID-19 in January.

Kilpatrick had been a longtime supporter of all things Tri-County Fair, Bishop and Inyo County. He was a constant with the Bishop Chamber of Commerce and Visitors Bureau as a volunteer and volunteered for organizations such as the Friends of the Fair, and Mule Days, among others. He also was recognized for his contributions to the California High School Rodeo Association.

During the announcement, boardPresident Judy Waggoner said the building that now bears Kilpatrick's name was redesigned in 2019 with a vision to create a special place "that represents the history of all events in our valley."

"The building represents laughter, friendship, leadership, community, citizenship, history, tradition, just to name a few," Waggoner said. "Chuck has been a part of just about every function held here and in our community that represents all of the above. We are proud to rename The Patio Building in Chuck's honor – Chuck's Rodeo Round Up Room. He will always be part of high school rodeo, the fair, Mule Days and our community. God bless you, Chuck."
