Warriors cap off 3-game winning streak

The Big Pine Lady Warriors volleyball squad is on a winning streak with back-to-back 3-0 wins over the Lee Vining Lady Tigers and Thursday afternoon’s monster win over the Mammoth Lady Huskies, 3-2.
Following a shaky start to the season, the Warriors have transitioned from a young, inexperienced group of girls to a focused, hard-hitting, tenacious team of Warriors.

Broncos outrun Roadrunners

The Bishop Broncos tennis team hosted the Rosamond Roadrunners at the City Park courts Thursday and sent their guests home with a 13-5 loss.
Like Saturday’s match up with Pacifica, the final match of the day went down to a tie-breaker. This time on the singles side. Tessa Wright beat Rosamond’s number one seed, Eileen Grimes, 7-1, adding to her other two wins, 6-2 and 6-3.
Bishop’s singles squad provided 9 of the team’s 13 points with Gabi Morales and Laura Rossy both going 3-0 against Rosamond. Morales won 6-1, 6-2, 6-1; Rossy, 6-0, 6-1 and 6-2.

Broncos muzzle Huskies

The Bishop Broncos football team and the crowd were up for the first home game of the season Friday night – the traditional match-up with the Mammoth Huskies.
One has to choose one’s words tactfully. There are strong friendships and a lot of history between the two schools. As Bronco coach Bill Egan said, “I’m great friends with the Mammoth coaches; I root for them every week, except for this one game.”
But, sorry guys, the Broncos wiped up the field with the Huskies. Bishop shut out Mammoth, 50-0.

Lady Broncos: 1st at Mammoth Tourney

The Bishop Lady Broncos headed to Mammoth for the annual volleyball tournament last Friday and came home with the tournament championship.
“I’m happy for the program,” said coach Linda Frigerio, “happy for the team. It’s nice to see us getting better and better.” Over the past three years, the Broncos have progressed from third place at the tourney, to second with last year’s team and now they’ve claimed the title. The final matches were played back to back against the Yosemite High School Badgers.
