The Lady Eagles are still undefeated after facing down the Desert Christian Knights on Saturday and the Mohave Mustangs Tuesday.
The Lone Pine volleyball team is 11-0 in Desert Mountain League and has a 20-3 overall record.
The Eagles tamed the winless Mustangs in a dominating three-game sweep. As a team, Lone Pine served 68/74 (92-percent) and had 22 aces.
According to coach Mel Joseph, the Eagles were able to try some different line-up combinations in preparation for the last three DML matches.
“Our work will be cut out for us,” said Joseph, “as Boron, Vasquez and Mammoth will all be looking to bring their best in coming games.
“I am proud of this team. They work hard, they are disciplined, but they are still young high school students who enjoy having fun too; it should be an interesting finish.”
Lone Pine travels to Boron on Thursday. A win against the Bobcats will assure the Eagles of at least a share of the DML.
Earlier this season, the Eagles swept both Vasquez and Mammoth in 3-0 matches. The meeting with Boron was a tough fought 3-2 win for the Eagles.
Last weekend, the Eagles hosted the Desert Christian Knights and came away with a 3-1 victory.
According to Joseph, Lone Pine struggled to find consistency in their passing game allowing the Knights to stay in the match. The Eagles got it together, finished strong and dominated the Knights in Game 4 to earn the win.
Outside hitter, Larixta Ramirex has been sidelined with an injury for the last two weeks but returns to practice this week.
