Donald G. Plummer
Donald G. Plummer, 77, of Gridley, passed away on April 22, 2014 at the Gridley Health Care & Wellness Center where he had resided for the last few years due to declining health.
He was born Feb. 1, 1937 in Pittsburg, Calif. and was raised in Bishop. He graduated in 1955 from Bishop Union High School, and served two years in the U.S. Navy. He worked in the Space Industry for Spectro-Lab Corp in Southern California before returning to the Bishop area where he worked for Joseph’s grocery, Eastern Distributors and Union Carbide. He relocated to the central coast of California and on to Northern California where he worked in the private security field and in sales until he retired.
He enjoyed participation in “Renaissance Fairs,” his hobbies of miniature train sets and his “Citizens Band” radio.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Adeline Plummer who were longtime residents of Bishop; his wife, Susan J. Plummer; and his youngest son, David E. Plummer.
He is survived by his sons, Dwayne G. Plummer of Salinas and Dennis K. (Lucinda) Plummer, of Spreckels; his granddaughters, Britney Plummer, of Eureka, Dylan Wells of Fresno and Heather Plummer; grandson, Devin Plummer; and step-grandsons, Ryan and Garrett Zeidler, all of Spreckels; his former wife and mother of his children, Donna (Herman) Hollenstain of Salinas; and numerous cousins.
Private services will be held at a later date.
