Sandra Vernon Bright
Sandi passed away unexpectedly, following a long illness, at her home in Big Pine on Feb. 28, 2014. Sandi was an avid outdoor enthusiast who loved camping, hiking, scuba diving and long rides. She enjoyed travel, fine dining, sunsets and piña coladas on the beach at her vacation spot in Mexico. Sandi had many bird feeders on her porch and loved watching the birds return in the spring.
She was preceded in death by her father, Elmer (Sarge) Vernon; and mother, Carolyn Vernon both of Alturas; grandparents, Earl and Ruth Vernon, Robert Mize and Lillian Gossage, and her uncle Jim Mize.
Sandi is survived by her husband of 29 years, John of Big Pine; her beloved dogs, Bear and Cali; special niece, Ariel Witherspoon of Grants Pass, Ore. who was her daughter of heart; sisters, Pat Cullins of Alturas and Judy Witherspoon of Grants Pass, Ore.; brother, Robert Vernon of Grants Pass, Ore.; aunts, Pam Mize of Emmett, Idaho and Linda Mize of Houston, Texas.; uncle, Bob Mize of Gasquet; brother-in-law, Dan Bright of Bishop; and many cousins, nieces and nephews who loved her very much.
A memorial service and celebration of life is planned for 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 22 at the Mendenhall Park Gazebo in Big Pine.
