Cotton had attended a Sept. 5 town hall meeting hosted by Congressman Col. Paul Cook, and expressed his frustration at not being able to receive benefits to which he felt entitled. Conover, who has been involved in politics as a USO performer and self-described “conservative stand-up comedian,” said he caught wind of Cotton’s story after reading the Sept. 7, 2013 article “Congressman Cook faces local constituents” in The Inyo Register.
