Plenty of bulbs – corresponding to the Christmas wishes/needs of local children from low-income families – are still hanging from Wish Trees at businesses throughout Inyo County, including the one at The Inyo Register in Bishop.
The deadline for choosing a bulb, fulfilling the wish and returning the unwrapped items to the Wish Tree businesses is at 5 p.m. tomorrow, Dec. 13. This is the 18th year that Inyo-Mono Advocates for Community Action has organized the effort, and estimates having about 600 children signed up for the program in 2013.
Businesses offering 10 percent discounts for Wish Tree shoppers include Gee Gee’s Beauty Salon, Ben Franklin’s, Bishop Art Supply, Dwayne’s Friendly Pharmacy and JC Penney in Bishop; and Elevation, Lone Pine Drug, Gardner’s True Value and Lone Star Bistro in Lone Pine.
Spellbinder Books in Bishop is offering a 20 percent discount for Wish Tree shoppers.
Trees are located at Jenny’s Cafe in Independence; AltaOne, El Dorado Bank and Lone Star Bistro in Lone Pine; and at AltaOne, Mountain Light Gallery, The Inyo Register, Studio 27, Salon Infinity and Eastern Sierra Community Bank in Bishop.
