Film historian Chris Langley and photographer Osceola Refetoff are in the process of birthing a blog about the changing face of the Mojave in an effort to inform and engage people about how that change will impact everyone’s future.
Langley and Refetoff plan to unveil the working-titled blog, “High and Dry: Dispatches from the Land of Little Rain” this year. The title alludes to “the desert non-fiction of author Mary Austin’s ‘Land of Little Rain,’ which really describes our area very accurately,” Langley said.
The duo envisions the evolving blog as a platform for discussion about the history of “successful and failed human enterprises” such as the development of mines, wastelands, irrigation systems, land management and development and human habitats, Langley explained.
