Shirley Mae Summers
Shirley Mae Kellner “Summers” was born Sept. 25, 1937 in Darwin. She loved this small mining town where she grew up and always talked of wonderful memories of her life there.
At the age of 6, Shirley learned to play the piano. She was well known for her musical talent of being a great pianist and was able to play any style of music. With this God-given talent, Shirley used this gift during her years of being a minister. She was a loving mother, sister, auntie, grandmother, great grandmother and friend.
Shirley was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Charlie Wrinkle; maternal grandmother, Mary Wrinkle; mother, Mae Mildred Davis; father, Frank Kellner; brother, David Davis; and daughter, Genyne Littlebird Summers-Marks.
Shirley is survived by sisters, Marian Merchant and Dorothy Gholson; children, Leroy “’Spike” Jackson, Thomas Jackson, Eleanor Jackson, Raquel Summers and Duane Summers; grandchildren, Amber Richards, Katrina Martinez, Jeremy Torres, Jesse Jackson, Stefanie Jackson, Tanaya Jackson, Ernest Vargas, Jr., Michael Vargas, TiAna Vargas, Yeehobie Jackson, Junior Jackson, Coco Jackson, Jose Figueroa, Marcos Ramos, Ruben Ramos, Lydia Ramos, Bethany Marks, Serena West, Qwina West, Jr., Aunwahu West, Usungwapu West and Feather Montoya; numerous great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and of course, innumerable friends.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 13 at the River Church, 1355 Rocking W Drive, Bishop. Graveside service will follow at East Line Street Cemetery. Reception will be held at the House of Mercy Church.
