The Bishop Police Department announced late Monday afternoon that it is investigating yet another case of alleged embezzlement in the City of Bishop.
According to Bishop PD Public Information Officer Katie Coffman, police were notified last Thursday, April 29 of “possible embezzlement occurring at Inyo Mono Body Shop.” The specific charge the PD is now investigating is 508 PC, the California Penal Code for embezzlement of more than $950.
“We are working with the business to obtain more information regarding the matter,” Coffman said in a press release. “Further information regarding the case will be released as the investigation progresses.”
The PD was previously notified in January of possible embezzlement at the Health and Human Services welfare office in Bishop. The PD identified a person of interest before turning the investigation over to the D.A.’s Office, which made an arrest on April 13.
The suspects in that case, Dawndee Rossy and her husband Ken Rossy, both of Bishop, are accused of stealing more than $1.5 million in public funds from the Public Assistance Program over an eight-year period.
