County leaders will hold a special meeting at 9 a.m. today to discuss progress on the Digital 395 project, the county snow removal policy and other county business.
The board will meet in the County Administrative Center in Independence and the meeting is open to the public. Traditionally, the board only meets three times in a five-Tuesday month by cancelling its last two meetings of the month. The board did not meet Tuesday, Jan. 1, taking New Year’s Day as a holiday. To make up for that meeting, county leaders will be meeting today.
The Board of Supervisors is scheduled to meet with representatives of Health and Human Services to discuss an update on the Eastern Sierra Area Agency on Aging. Health and Human Services is also scheduled to hold a workshop on the county Growing Older, Living with Dignity program.
The County Planning Department is also asking the board to make five regular appointments and one alternate appointment to the county’s Natural Resources Committee. Planning Director Josh Hart said he needs two appointments to three-year terms, two appointments for one-year terms and one appointment for a two-year term and the alternate, whose term will be determined by the board.
A “notice of vacancy” for the positions posted by the county resulted in letters of interest from Randi Pritchard, Walter Sharer, Dana Jeffries, Doug Thomson, Jael Hoffmann-Lish and David German.
Hart will also present for the board’s consideration a “Description and Comparative Evaluation” of the Draft Desert Renewable Energy Conservation Plan alternatives.
Inyo County Water Director Bob Harrington is also requesting the board approve a contract between the county and Sierra Nevada Conservancy for services related to the completion of a Lower Owens River Project Recreation Plan. The contract is for Jan. 22 through March 13, 2013.
At 9:30 a.m. the board will meet with Praxis Associates CEO Mike Ort to discuss progress on the Digital 395 Project. According to a staff report, construction on the project in Inyo is scheduled to begin soon.
The board is also scheduled to hold a workshop with Clerk-Recorder Kammi Foote on the Clerk-Recorder and Registrar of Voters Department and with the Road Department on the county’s snow removal policy.
This meeting is open to the public and time will be set aside at the opening and close of the meeting for residents to make comments to the board on matters that are not calendared on the agenda. Those wishing to speak on items the board is scheduled to discuss will be asked to fill out a comment card before the board takes up the agenda item.
