Emily Jane Milovich
Emily Jane Milovich, lifelong Bishop resident, suddenly and peacefully passed away on Jan. 16, 2013 at Renown Medical Center in Reno.
Emily Jane was born on Jan. 23, 1931, in the same home in which she resided in at the time of her death, to parents Mijo “Mike” and Margherita Milovich. She was the youngest of the five Milovich children and was born on her brother Raymond’s eighth birthday.
Emily Jane attended West Bishop elementary school and graduated from Bishop High School in 1947.
Emily Jane loved to tell the story about going to work for Russ Reagan at Bishop Rexall when she was 12 years old. Emily Jane loved to work … and this first job would prove to be the beginning of many businesses Emily Jane would own, operate and work in for the next 70 years.
Emily Jane married Roy Heslington on Sept. 9, 1949. In 1950, Emily Jane and Roy opened their first business venture, The Sweet Shoppe. In 1952, they added records to their business. Eventually, these businesses evolved into Roy’s Jewelry and Gifts and Emily the Florist.
For a short time, Emily Jane relocated to Sacramento and returned to Bishop to care for her elderly mother. Upon returning to Bishop, she worked at Dwayne’s Pharmacy and Bishop Nursery.
Emily Jane had an outstanding work ethic and prided herself on providing excellent customer service and considered all of her customers friends. Emily Jane loved people, whether it was family, friends, neighbors or acquaintances she thoroughly enjoyed visiting, laughing, sharing stories and helping where she could.
Emily Jane was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Mary Louise Goff.
Emily was loved and survived by her daughter, Michelle Denault and husband, Bill; son, Kim Heslington and wife, Pam; daughter, Suzi Carter and husband, Tom; daughter, Jimmi Rae Heslington; grandchildren, Jason Denault and wife, Shawna, Billy Denault, Mandy Stark and husband, JT, Kelsey Maxim and husband Jesse, Lacey Carter, Carlee Meador and husband, Jason, Angel, April, Amber and Austin Hoskins; great-grandchildren, Gatlin and Taylor Denault, Rylie Denault, Cameron and Kylie Stark and Jaylee Meador; brothers, Raymond “Fish” Milovich and Robert “Rabbit” Milovich; sister, Christine Dodd; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many, many friends; special neighbors, Nancy and Ken Prange; and caregiver, Chastity Logan.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate memorial donations be made in Emily Jane’s name to the Hospice of the Owens Valley.
The family also extends heartfelt gratitude to the staffs of Symons Ambulance, Northern Inyo Hospital ER Department, Renown Medical Center (Reno) and Brune Mortuary for their care, concern, kindness and support.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 18, 2013 at Brune Mortuary. Funeral service will be at noon Saturday, Jan. 19 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Bishop. Bishop Brandon Fitt officiating. Interment at Pioneer Cemetery.
