Louisa V. Marquez
A rosary and funeral mass were held Dec. 29, 2012 for former Bishop resident Louisa V. Marquez, who passed away on Dec. 21, 2012 at her home in Rio Rancho, N.M. She was born on June 25, 1918 in Arroyo Hondo, N.M. and was 94 years old when she died. She moved, with her family, to Bishop in 1955 where she lived for 51 years before moving to Rio Rancho in 2006.
Louisa was a homemaker all of her adult life and was an avid gardener who enjoyed baking bread and canning foods. She and her husband, Juan, were active members of the Catholic Church and of the senior musical group, Merry Melody Makers.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Juan Marquez; a son, Gabriel Marquez; great-grandsons, Hugh Marquez, Jr. and John Zachary Hansen; three brothers; and two sisters.
Louisa’s survivors include her sons, John Marquez (Marie) and Carlos Marquez (Gwen); and her daughters, Antoinette Parra (John) and Linda Marquez Bradley. She is also survived by her sister, Amelia Davis (Zarro); sisters-in-law, Amelia Vargas and Irene Torres (Fermin); grandchildren, Hugh Marquez, Anthony Marquez, Fran Parra Hansen, Gabe Marquez, Brian Bradley and Leona Arndt; 10 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, including Mae Russell of Bishop.
