The Bishop girls and boys varsity Cross Country runners came away with improved times at the CIF Southern Section Cross Country Prelims, Saturday, Nov. 10 at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.
Nearly all the Bronco competitors shaved at least 30 seconds off of their individual times on the three-mile course since the Mt. SAC Invitational held three weeks ago.
Although neither team advanced to the next round, coach Katie Kress was pleased with the improved performance. The Broncos participated in the prelims by virtue of the girls’ first- and boys’ second-place finishes in the High Desert League standings.
The Bishop girls were led once again by sophomore Angie Flores and senior Dana Grevenkamp. Flores turned in a time of 20:49, good enough for 38th place out of a field of 118 runners. Grevenkamp finished in 68th place with a time of 22:06.
Also competing for the Bishop girls were sophomore Aurora Lella at 22:40, sophomore Katherine Desbrosses at 23:49, Kayla Inderbieten at 23:54, sophomore Olivia Grah at 24:33 and junior Ginger Perez at 25:50.
For the Bishop boys, junior Ray Eckland finished in 71st place out of a field of 115 runners with a time of 18:28, followed closely by freshman Carson Reid in 77th place with a time of 18:38.
Also competing for the Bishop boys were senior Max Piercey at 20:32, junior Nick Alexander at 20:37, sophomore Thomas Sills at 20:54, freshman Joe Domke at 22:39 and freshman Nathan Blacksheep at 22:45.
