All six Bishop Lady Bronco tennis players who competed in the CIF individual playoffs Thursday at Bishop City Park earned a slot, ranging from first place to alternate.
Senior Madi Taylor took first place with a 6-1, 6-1 win over Kern Valley and a 6-1, 6-0 win over Mammoth. Taylor faced her teammate, Ashley Lee, for first, winning 6-4, 6-1.
Lee went up against Desert, winning in a tie-breaker, then went on to beat the number one seed in the league, 7-5, 6-2, which assured her a spot in the playoffs.
Katie Tanksley and Tessa Wright beat Mammoth, 6-2, 6-1, in doubles action followed by a 6-2, 7-4 win over Kern Valley. Tanksley/Wright finished in second place for the day after a loss to Desert, 6-2, 7-5.
Juli Guido and Bronwyn Stephenson finished in the third slot in doubles as the alternate for High Desert League.
“I would like to thank all the coaches and the girls from the other schools for their great sportsmanship,” said coach Patty Cummings. “They made it a pleasure to host the playoffs. Also, thanks to the City of Bishop Park crew for cleaning off the courts and for all the parents who brought food and water.”
