The Bishop High senior Broncos opened up Homecoming Week, Oct. 8, seriously whipping the juniors 26-0.
The strong seniors defense held the juniors to three and out on their first possession of the game. The seniors quickly put points on the board on their first drive. Senior quarterback Katelyne Lent and running back Shiloh Smith teamed up, executing a perfect reverse hand-off. Smith went the distance for a 45-yard touchdown run. Brooke Jordan completed a 2-point conversion putting the seniors ahead, 8-0.
Natalie Hollowell intercepted a pass and ran 25 yards for another senior TD. Another successful 2-point conversion by Jordan would put the seniors up 16-0 at the half.
In the second half, the strong senior defense put 2 more points on the board with a safety.
Smith broke loose from the junior defense and ran 68 yards for another touchdown, followed by another 2-point conversion, leaving the score at 26-0.
“The seniors defense put a lot of pressure on the junior girls, never giving up any points,” said defensive coach James Jackson.
Coach Jim Reynolds expressed his appreciation to Jackson, Dan Nolan, Cy Scott, Roman Amisone and the other senior football players and the senior girls for a memorable experience.
“Our record is 2-0,” said Reynolds. “We’re undefeated. The seniors are a great bunch a girls with a lot of athletic ability. They work hard but also know how to have fun. I offered to coach the juniors next year, we’ll see if they take me up on my offer.”
