Kristine Hoverson Finch, 87, died Oct. 1, 2012, in Bishop.
She was born March 23, 1925, in Ollie, Mont., to Henry Alvin and Regina Paulson Hoverson. The family later moved to Bozeman, Mont., where she graduated from high school. She married Richard David Finch Sept. 29, 1945, in Bozeman and they enjoyed 67 years together. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a B.S. in medical technology.
The couple moved to China Lake Naval Weapons Center in 1952 and spent most of their lives in China Lake/Ridgecrest. When her children were older, Mrs. Finch worked as a medical technologist in the Ridgecrest hospital. She enjoyed needlework, sewing, playing her organ and most of all, time spent with children and grandchildren.
In 1964 Mr. and Mrs. Finch were among the first families to build a vacation home in the Bishop Creek community of Aspendell, which was her favorite place to be, with many happy memories of summer family vacations and winter ski trips to June Mountain and Mammoth.
Three years ago she and Richard moved to Sterling Heights assisted living facility in Bishop. The family is grateful to the staffs of Sterling Heights and Bishop Care Center for their loving care and kindness given to Mom.
Survivors include her husband, Richard; sister, Rhoda (Philip) Pollock of Athens, Ga.; four children, Mary (Richard Rose) of Salt Lake City, Utah, Raymond (Becky) of Bishop, and Carl and Donald (Kim), both of Ridgecrest; five grandsons, Curtis Lubben (Jayme), Kevin (Nina, fiancé), Owen (Rachel), Dan and Ryan Finch; and one great-granddaughter, Camryn Lubben.
A private family memorial is planned.
