A celebration of life will be hosted by family and friends at a later date for Eva Bell, a 25-year Bishop resident.
Born to Saima and Paavo Uusitalo on April 10, 1917 in Caspean, Mich., Eva passed away in her sleep at home Aug. 7, 2012.
Shortly after her birth the Uusitalo family embarked on an odyssey, living in mining towns in Montana, Colorado and Arizona before settling in San Pedro, Calif. Eva graduated from San Pedro High School in 1937 and married her high school sweetheart William Bell in 1938. The couple moved to Lomita in 1940 where, their only child Janice was born. The Bells resided there for 47 years until the desire to be closer to family brought them to Bishop.
Eva was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years, William; her parents and sister, Aaino.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Craig Chudy of Bishop; grandsons, Craig, II and his wife Susan of Bishop, Jeffrey and his wife Kathy of Bakersfield and Christopher of Bishop; great-grandsons, Colin, Kario, Bryce and Lowell; and great-granddaughter, Hannah.
