The two teams standing at the top of the City’s Softball Coed C Division faced off Tuesday night. By the end of the game, the rankings had not changed. Bad Company had one more win and Show Us Your Hits added a game to their loss column.
Bad Company dominated the early innings putting Show Us in a catch-up mode. The final score: 13-8.
Brian Young scored the first run for Show Us in the top of the first, with a base on balls, rounding to home on a single from Dale Renfro.
Bad Company showed Show Us why they’re at the top of the division with an in-the-park homer at the top of its line up.
With the bases loaded, Moe Fernando slammed a 2-RBI double; Deston Rogers doubled in a run, then scored on a Kaleigh Hurtz hit for a 5-run inning and a 5-1 lead.
Show Us lost some momentum in the top of the third. Todd Lembke slammed a huge single with one runner on base and one out, but was tagged out at second to end the inning.
Derek Sierra got things started for Bad Company in the bottom of two with a double. Cy Scott brought him home, then scored on a James Napoles triple. Napoles scored the team’s eighth run off a Heather Barlow single to extend the lead 8-1.
Show Us added a run in the third. Cheyanne Renfro singled home Tobin Hess.
Bad Company answered with a single run in the bottom of the inning by Muff Scott, sent home on a Fernando double.
Going into the top of the fourth, Bad Company lead 9-2.
Show Us narrowed the lead 9-4 with a Young double, a George Pendleton triple and a single off the bat of Susan Fahey. The defense made short work of Bad Company in the bottom of the fourth with a snappy double-play to retire the side.
A run by Ilissa Twomey off a Lembke single brought Show Us closer at 9-5 in the fifth.
The margin was too close for Bad Company. Cy Scott sent the ball to the fence for an in-the-park homer.
Muff Scott singled and scored on a triple from James Allmon who crossed the plate for Bad’s 12th run of the game and a 7-point lead.
Fernando made it 13-5 in the bottom of the sixth with the team’s second 1-RBI homer.
Show Us saved their best inning for last, scoring three runs in the top of the seventh for a respectable 8-13 loss.
