Lone Pine’s Seth Gilmore has been signed by Miles Community College baseball team.
The Montana college’s head baseball coach, Jeff Brabant, announced the signing of shortstop Gilmore, currently a resident of Powell, Wyo., to a National Letter-of-Intent for the 2012-13 school year.
Gilmore can play either position on the left side of the infield as he earned All-State honors for the Powell Pioneers in his first season after moving to Wyoming from Lone Pine. “We will graduate our left side of the infield so we expect Seth to come in and compete for a spot,” said Brabant.
In 2011, Gilmore hit .528 for the Pioneers as he finished with 84 hits and 72 RBIs in 159 at-bats. Out of his 84 hits, he had 23 doubles, seven triples and six home runs, while walking 22 times. He will be playing for the Powell Pioneers again this season before changing out the orange and white to the blue and gray of the Miles Community College Pioneers this fall.
Before moving to Powell, Gilmore was a first-team all-conference performance as both a freshman and sophomore for Lone Pine. While at LPHS he picked up letters in baseball, football and basketball. “He is a great baseball player coming from a great baseball family, we are excited to have him join our program,” added Brabant.
“It is an honor to sign with Miles Community College and be able to be a part of the Pioneer baseball team,” said Gilmore. “Having the opportunity to visit other colleges to look at their baseball and academic programs, I felt right at home after visiting the coaches and team at MCC. I knew right away I wanted to start my college baseball and academic career in Miles City.”
Gilmore is the second player that Miles has signed off of the ESPN High School All-State Baseball Teams.
