A Bishop man is being held in county jail this week for allegedly committing sex crimes against a child – 17 years after being convicted on similar charges.
Deputies with the Inyo County Sheriff’s Department arrested Richard Ferrell Andreas, Sr. on Friday, Feb. 3 for allegedly committing lewd and lascivious acts on a child under the age of 14.
The 51-year-old Andreas, a resident of the Bishop Paiute Reservation, was transported to Inyo County Jail, where he is being held on $100,000 bail.
In addition to the lewd and lascivious charge, according to Inyo County Jail, Andreas is also being held for alleged rape of a minor with use of force, violence, duress, menace or fear of immediate and unlawful bodily injury on the victim.
Andreas is listed as a sex offender on the state’s Megan’s Law website for a prior conviction of lewd and lascivious acts against a child under the age of 14 in Inyo County back in 1995.
Andreas may face additional prison time for violating the terms of his probation and because of his prior conviction.
