In an effort to promote Mule Days and get more out-of-town visitors who attend the event into local businesses, the Bishop Area Chamber of Commerce is offering discount event tickets to local businesses.
The Chamber of Commerce is offering a $3 discount for arena events and a $7 discount for the Terri Clark concert scheduled for Thursday, May 24 in hopes that chamber members will turn out to support Mule Days and get some exposure to guests who attend the event.
“We all know that Mule Days is very important to our economy and the continued success of the event depends heavily on local support,” Chamber Executive Director Tawni Thomson said in a letter to chamber members.
Thomson said the Chamber introduced the discounts during last year’s event, and was encouraged by the response.
“The Bishop Chamber is very supportive of Mule Days and we’re hoping all of our members will consider supporting by attending one or more shows,” Thomson said. “The very best way that our community can support Mule Days is to buy tickets and go to the shows.”
The Chamber is also encouraging local business owners to consider advertising in the Mule Days Souvenir program, saying that it is a great way to both support Mule Days, and drive customers into local businesses.
Mule Days officials are currently working on the program, and anyone who is interested in purchasing an ad is encouraged to call Executive Director Kim Craft at (760) 872-4263 or email firstname.lastname@example.org .
Mule Days and the Chamber are also working on a new advertising method that they hope will get contestants and Mule Days visitors off the fairgrounds and into local businesses.
The Chamber is working on a special “welcome flyer” that will be distributed at check-in to all contestants, vendors and RV campers when they arrive for the event. The welcome flyer will include information about local businesses and discounts that will, hopefully, generate interest from visitors.
“A similar program has worked well for CHSRA State Finals Rodeo and we are certain that Mule Days participants will appreciate the outreach and respond well,” Thomson said.
Anyone who is interested in offering deals or discounts for Mule Days visitors to be included in the welcome flyer is encouraged to e-mail email@example.com  by May 1.
