Bill Poole was born in San Gabriel on March 1, 1952, spent his childhood in Arcadia, and passed away peacefully on Oct. 1, 2011 at home in Woodbridge.
Along with trout fishing at his favorite spot on the Owens River outside Bishop, Bill enjoyed numerous vacations to the peaceful serenity of Zihuatanejo, Guerrero and Sayulita, Nayarit, Mexico. He spent much of his retirement attending to his extensive model train layout which was a constant work in progress of his unlimited imagination. Bill also enjoyed classic television shows, movies and music.
Left to cherish Bill’s memory are his devoted wife, of 26 years, Julie Govette; his loving mother, Audrey Poole of Bishop; beloved sister and brother-in-law, Kathy and Rick Williams of Benton; brother and sister-in-law, Roy and Lynn Poole of Arvada, Colo.; brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Brandi Poole of San Andreas; father- and mother-in-law, William and Linda Govette of Sutter Creek; brother- and sister-in-law, Mike and Theresa Govette of Suisun City; brother- and sister-in law, Howard and Terri Govette of Sutter Creek; as well as many nieces and nephews currently circling the globe.
Behind Bill’s gruff exterior was a gentle giant of a man always there to help family and friends. His kind heart will also be missed by his four-legged companions Mali and Millie. His love for animals was infinite.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, Warren G. Poole in 1998.
A private family celebration of Bill’s life will take place in November.
