The Bishop Broncos delivered a double whammy at Frazier Mountain Tuesday with wins for both the girls and boys soccer teams.
The Lady Broncos victory sent Bishop to the top of the High Desert League.
The Broncos scored in the first minute on a great pass from Alex Tillemans to Eva Bohg who fought off several defenders and blasted the ball into the net.
“This was a good win for us,” said coach Tim Freeman. “The girls were up for the game. Any time you can get out of the bus and score in the first minute – it takes the edge off the game.”
The game settled in with the Broncos controlling possession. The Falcons scored 10 minutes into the first half off of a long pass from their back line, tying the score at 1-1.
With two minutes left in the half, Bronco left wing forward Tiara Shoshone bent in a corner kick putting Bishop ahead 2-1.
The Broncos set the tempo in the second half, keeping the ball in the Falcons half of the field with good midfield play.
The game ended with the Falcons pressing hard and getting three of their five shots for the game in the last two minutes. The Bronco defense held on to secure the 2-1 victory and put the Broncos atop the HDL.
The Bishop Broncos boys team scored 17 minutes into the game as Tim Pejsa made a nice run down the left flank, crossing the ball to Danny Lopez for the finish.
Bishop controlled most of the game with 80 percent of the possession.
The Broncos are on the road again today at Kern Valley to take on the Broncs. The final two league games will be at home next week against Rosamond and Desert.
