Donald ‘Don’ Arthur Leavitt

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 18 for Donald “Don” Arthur Leavitt at Our Savior Lutheran Church,  162 Sneden St., Bishop.
Born March 21, 1934 in Meridan, Conn., Don died Dec. 11, 2010 at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno following a brief illness.
Don was one of three sons of Arthur and Helen Leavitt. He served in the Air Force during the Korean War. After the service Don continued his education and enjoyed a long and challenging career as an aerospace engineer.
Don and his wife Marilyn (nee Brown) raised their family in Woodland Hills, and following his retirement moved to their dream home – a log cabin in the mountains above Bishop.  
This past June, Don and Marilyn celebrated their 50th wedding  anniversary.
During his many years in Bishop, Don was a very active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. He was also an avid fisherman and worked hard to protect the beautiful mountain environment through his work on the Inyo County Fire Safe Council.
Don was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Dick and Robbie.
Don was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn; son and daughter-in-law, Ward and Kathy Leavitt; daughter and son-in-law, Megan and Bill Kleinschmidt;  stepdaughter and son-in-law, Rayne Cumberworth and John Wolfe; stepson and daughter-in-law, Randy and Laure Nicklaus; and five grandchildren.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Don’s memory to Our Savior Lutheran Church.
