Ruth Carolyn Morefield

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Independence Cemetery for 42-year Lone Pine resident Ruth Carolyn Morefield. The Rev. Erin Maddox McPhee will officiate. Friends and family will gather after the service at Pioneer Memorial Methodist Church.
Born in McCook, Neb. Oct. 28, 1922, Ruth died Nov. 23, 2010 at the Bishop Care Center. She was 88.
Ruth married Warren on Sept. 14, 1942 and they were married for 68 years.
She had three sons and was a very loving and caring mother and person – always giving to others. She was a member of the Pioneer Memorial Methodist Church in Independence and also volunteered at the Lone Pine Senior Center. She also volunteered at the Care Center on Pangborn Lane in Lone Pine. Ruth was also active in the Artisans Guild in Lone Pine for several years.
Warren and Ruth lived at Manzanar in 1946 and 1947, when they first moved to the Owens Valley. Warren and Ruth lived in Independence after World War II until 1955.
Ruth leaves behind many good friends in Lone Pine and Independence.
She is survived by her husband, Warren L. Morefield of Bishop; and sons, Ron Morefield of Bishop, Don Morefield of Norco and Larry Morefield of Dallas, Texas.
