Marlene Anne Miller
A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 17 at East Line Street Cemetery in Bishop for 36-year Bishop resident Marlene Anne Miller. A reception will follow, with details to be announced at the conclusion of the service.
Born Aug. 1, 1931 in Des Moines, Iowa, Marlene died Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010 at the Bishop Care Center. She was 79.
Marlene was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend and will be missed dearly by all those who loved her and were helped by her over the years.
She married Carl F. Miller, Jr. in 1953. He worked for the California Department of Fish and Game, so the family transferred several places with Marlene doing secretarial work at each stop. The family moved to Bishop in 1974 where Marlene was a partner in the Bota Bag restaurant. She also worked several years with the handicapped and the elderly, giving them all her loving care. She was a fun-loving person, always cheerful in spite of her long illness.
Marlene was preceded in death by her husband, Carl F. Miller, Jr., and sister, Lorraine.
She is survived by her sons, Dale (Debbie) and Rob Miller; sister, Vivian Daugherty; sisters-in-law, Lori Judd, Vici Miller and Leslie Rosaschi, along with brother-in-law, Jim Miller; grandchildren, Kristin and Kevin; and numerous nephews, nieces and extended family members.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Marlene’s name be made to Inyo-Mono Association for the Handicapped, 371 S. Warren St., Bishop.
