Doris Elizabeth Ferber
Graveside funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Big Pine Cemetery on West Crocker Street for Doris Elizabeth Ferber. Viewing and visitation will be held from 6-9 p.m. Friday at the Mt. Whitney Funeral Home, 220 E. Post. St. in Lone Pine.
Born Nov. 11, 1912 in Redondo Beach, Doris died Oct. 25, 2010 in Lone Pine. She was 97.
Doris came to the Owens Valley in 1935, and for about 50 years, grew up and lived in and around different mines that were active during those years. Doris’s father, T.L. Bright, was the founder and owner of what has been described as one of the West’s most famous mines, the Lucy Gray Gold Mining Company in Clark County, Nev.
She was preceded in death by her parents, T.L. and Eunice Bright; and her daughter, Shereene.
Doris is survived by three sons, Bailey of Keeler, Terry of Yreka and Travis of Scot Valley; and sister, June Bagwell fo Lone Pine.
