Bonnie Lee (Holland) Ford
1927-2010

Honoring her request, a private family service will be held at a later date for lifetime Bishop resident Bonnie Lee Ford.
Born July 23, 1927 to Harry and Belle Holland, Bonnie died Oct. 19, 2010 at her home in Bishop. She was 83.
A third-generation Owens Valley pioneer, Bonnie’s grandmother, Anna Stacia Malone, was the first white child born at Fort Independence.
Bonnie Lee, referred to by her friends as “Dutch,” attended school in Bishop and graduated from Bishop High School in 1945.
She then attended Pasadena City College, earning a degree in Business.
Upon returning to Bishop, she married Mac Ford and together they owned and operated Mac’s Sporting Goods store.
After retirement, Mac and Bonnie enjoyed many trips in their motor home and being with friends.
What made Bonnie happiest was her home filled with family, grandkids and laughter.  She took pride in being a mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harry and Belle Holland; husband of 57 years, Mac Ford; and brothers, Vernon, Jim and Tex Holland.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Debra and Dale Miller of Bishop, Rhonda and Lars Erickson of Bishop and Linda Ford of Pleasant Hill; sister and brother-in-law, Arlene and Connie Morris; brother and sister-in-law, Howard and Wenda Holland, all of Bishop; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She will be deeply missed by family and friends as she was a woman with a big heart, filled with kindness and love.  She was friendly to everyone she met, friend or stranger.
“We are blessed with happy memories of laughter and good times and we will continue on this way as that is what she would have wanted,” the family said.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Owens Valley, Laws Museum or a charity of one’s choice.
