Ruth Alice Nielsen
Memorial services for Ruth Alice Nielsen will be held some time around Thanksgiving. The time and date will be announced at a later date.
Born April 5, 1938 in Chicago, Ill., Ruth died Oct. 10, 2010.
After her daughter Deborah moved to Bishop, she soon followed and developed her seamstress business here. She made many friends, enjoying sewing, gardening and genealogy. She and her partner, Maxwell Cox, spent many enjoyable hours together volunteering at Laws Railroad Museum.
Ruth valiantly fought lung cancer and sustained her life well past any medical predictions. She also maintained her beauty and sense of humor; she passed with peace and grace.
Ruth was a wonderful mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her partner, Max Cox; daughters, Deborah Nielsen of Bishop and Barbara Nielsen of La Crescenta; three grandchildren, Allysen Grace Bell, daughter of Barbara Nielsen and Bill Bell; and Gabriel Neilsen Montes de O Ca and Alexander Neilsen Montes de O Ca, who are both attending college. In lieu of flowers, donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to Laws Railroad Museum or the Hospice of the Owens Valley.
