Calvin Howard Hazley
1922-2010

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 30 at the East Line Street Cemetery for four-year Inyo County resident Calvin Howard Hazley. David McLaughlin of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints will officiate, along with Kim Lehigh and family.
Born to Esther Willamina Frances Ohlson in Minnesota on Dec. 15, 1922, Calvin died at the Bishop Care Center on Sept. 24, 2010. He was 87.
Calvin was in the Army Air Corps during the Korean War. The years in the Air Force were his proudest years. Calvin learned to fly in a bi-wing, open cockpit PT-17, a BT-19, an AT-17, then B-47s. He was made captain on an SAC squadron. He enjoyed the many missions to so many different countries.
Calvin retired from the Air Force in 1961. He came back and taught his sister, June, many naughty war songs. He became a forest ranger in the Redwoods where he and his first wife, Mable, enjoyed four years living in beautiful country. He worked as a salesman and also partnered with his second wife, Flo, in operating a self-storage in Stockton.
He retired to Tuolumne where he enjoyed golfing and fishing. He joined and enjoyed working the AmeriCorps, where he was able to use his skills to find mentors for young adults.
Calvin was a great photographer. He loved the Bishop area and moved there to be with his daughter, Kim Lazley Lehigh, her husband, Lanny, and his favorite granddaughter, Katrina Corbin.
Calvin was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Grace Hazley, on Dec. 19, 2001.
He is survived by his daughter, Demiris, her husband, Dave Ried, their daughter, Rachel, her children and her grandchild; son, Lance, and his wife, Teri, their daughter, Brandy, and their granddaughter; sister, June, who still sings the song he taught her and her children, Jody, Loren and their families.
