‘Dr. Who’ returns, ‘True Blood’ bids adieu

Hello, Geekers! Try to contain your enthusiasm: it’s time for this week in the geek world …
“Dr. Who” premiered Saturday on BBC America. Peter Capaldi starred in his first full episode as the 12th Doctor. David Tennant is my favorite Dr. Who by far, but I liked Matt Smith (the 11th one) as well. However, I was looking forward to seeing what Capaldi could do. I have been a fan of his since I saw the movie “In the Loop.” “Loop” is a 2009 satire about Anglo-American politics and also featured James Gandolfini. Capaldi plays the foul-mouthed Malcolm Tucker, director of communications for the Prime Minister (a character from the British TV series “In the Thick of It”). Unfortunately, in “Dr. Who” Capaldi doesn’t get to run around cussing at people and actively scheming.
