Franklin Earl West Jr.

Franklin Earl West Jr. was born in Clarksburg, W.V., on March 16, 1935 where his grandmother had a little restaurant called the Cozy Corner. In later years, his mom had a little Restaurant called the HI-HO. Oh the stories he would tell.
He served in the United States Air Force for 11 years, traveling to many places, North Africa, Little Rock, Ark. and eventually March AFB in Southern California. He then worked for Lockheed on a solid rocket project in Banning, which later became the space shuttle boosters. While at March AFB, Frank met the mother of his children Roberta Rose and discovered the love of racing with his brother-in-law Vince. At the Orange show in San Bernardino, in the mid ’60s Vincent Aleo and Frank dominated the race track. He later ran a late model stock car program with his son Joseph as the driver.
He loved going to the Reno air races with his daughter and in his earlier years was quite the jet setter. Traveling was a passion of his since his daughter was a flight attendant and he could fly for free.
He was kind and generous to his family and friends. He truly had compassion for people and helped so many in there times of need. He loved to laugh and joke around. He was a free spirit. Troubles didn’t bring him down and he Always looked on the bright side.
He was surrounded by family.
He was preceded in death by both parents, Frank and Jessie West; two sisters, Janie Hurst and Kathryn Snyder; two nephews, Joseph Hurst and Jeff West; and two grandsons, Joshua Lester and Jimmy Skinner.
He is survived by his sister, Dudie (Tom) Caveney of Brook Park, Ohio; brother, Freddy West of West Virginia, daughter, Vicki Skinner of West Virginia; Vicki Skinner’s mother, Shirley Carson Everett; daughter, Cindy Lester and Weaver Jr of Oregon; daughter, Jahnean West of Reno, Nev.; son, Joe West and Dawn of Bishop; the mother of three of his children, Roberta Rose; granddaughters, Shannon Smith and Sean, Charisma Lester and Mandy Skinner; grandsons, Joey West and Christina, Anthony West, Cody West, Weaver Lester III and Johnny and Justin Lester; and great- grandchildren, Austin and Audriana West, Sarah Smith, Caitlin, Brad and Sarah Caldie, Brooklin Bietel, Oliva Lester, Bella Skinner-Kaleb Ice-Casey Pumphrey; and great-great-grandson, Max; and many nieces and nephews.
