Scott Matthew Stevenson
Scott Stevenson, 47 years old, passed away on July 1, 2014, at his home in Canyon Country. In the last weeks of his life , he was surrounded by family and friends.
He was born in Los Angeles on July 7, 1966. At that time he lived in Wrightwood. Two years later he moved with his family to Independence. He graduated from Owens Valley High School. After attending schools in California and Arizona, he received certificates in auto, diesel, and air conditioning mechanics.
Scott always loved the outdoors. He started fishing when he was two years old, and that became one of his favorite activities. Another one of his favorite outdoor pursuits was hunting.
He worked for the City of Los Angeles for a total of 27 years. Scott started out doing vehicle and equipment maintenance for the city and the harbor. Later he transferred to the LADWP, spending the last 25 years of his employment with that department. During this time he worked as an air conditioning mechanic, followed by many years as a lineman, recently promoted to electrical distribution mechanic supervisor.
His three children were so important to him that their wellbeing was foremost in everything he did. He is survived by his children: daughter, Andrea; sons, Joseph and Scott Jr.; their mother, Raquel of Arleta; mother, Judith Stevenson of Independence; father, Bruce Stevenson (Terri) of Tecopa; sister, Tamara Stevenson of Big Bear City; brother, Randal Stevenson (Judi) of Atascadero; brother, Andrew Stevenson of Walnut Creek; niece, Kori Fortner (Angel) of Oceano; nephew, Mitchell Stevenson of Riverton, Wyo.; and his aunt, Margaret Stevenson of Reno; and five cousins.
Services will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 19 at the Eternal Valley Memorial Park and Mortuary located at 23287 Sierra Highway in Newhall.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 26th at Pioneer Memorial United Methodist Church in Independence, with a reception following the service.
