Theo Weyer

Theo “The German Tile Guy” was born on Aug. 8, 1937 in Cologne, Germany and passed away on May 10, 2014 in Bishop. He was 76 years old. Theo played professional billiards in Cologne and around the area. Also he played soccer and tennis for 25 years. Hermine, his wife, and Theo were only apart for a time during their wonderful 52 years of marriage in 1982 for their immigration. In 1988, after many vacations to Bishop, they moved straight from Cologne to the Owens Valley. Theo had four years of extensive tile setting training to 1952, then he was a professional tile setter in Germany until 1980. After that he worked in the showroom for eight years for the world’s largest tile company Villeroy & Boch. He met people from all over the world and would ask him about remodeling there house. Theo always gave the same answer, that he was a perfectionist – professional. In 1988, he started working as a professional tile setter in Bishop, Mammoth and June Lake. Theo left so many marks behind. People would ask for the “German Tile Guy.”
Theo is survived by his wife, Hermine; and his best friend for 14 years, Mippel his cat; family in Cologne; lifelong friends; and many friends in the Owens Valley.
“Theo come back to us please. We are waiting for you. We love you very much and miss you every minute.”
– Jogi and Mippel
