The University of Chicago, University of Maryland, CalTech, UC Berkeley and University of Illinois are welcoming the public to their annual open house at CARMA – the Combined Array for Millimeter-wave Astronomy – at Cedar Flat this Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. CARMA is the world’s largest and most powerful observatory of its kind. Staff members, such as Senior Scientist James Lamb (above) and Ira Snyder, CalTech employee, will be on hand to guide visitors through various CARMA site highlights, including the control room, the correlator room, the telescope transporter, and of course, the telescopes themselves.
