Donald Charles Krause
Donald Charles Krause a longtime resident of Bishop, passed away May 17, 2014, in Thornton, Colo. where he had lived for the past eight years. He was born June 23, 1924, in Detroit, Mich. Donald was a decorated combat veteran, serving with the U.S. Armyâ€™s 36th Infantry Division during World War II. He was a graduate of the University of Michigan and employed with the State of California, Department of Transportation, for 30 years. Donald retired in 1987 out of the Bishop office.
Donald is survived by his wife of 52 years, Gayle M. Krause: one daughter, Heather (Kelsen) Krause of Irvine; and three sons, Karl Krause of Sierra Vista, Ariz., James Krause of Parker, Colo. and Brian Krause of Lincoln, Calif.; one son-in-law, three daughters-in-law and six grandchildren.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and two siblings.
Donald was a wise and crafty man who loved his family and enjoyed gardening, woodworking, reading, puzzles of all kinds and most importantly, his weekly poker games.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday May 21 at the Summit of Peace Lutheran Church in Thornton, Colo. Interment will follow at the Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
