It is with deep sadness we announce the passing of Jana (Bartley) Barnes, a beloved mother, sister, daughter, granddaughter and friend.
Jana left us unexpectedly Sunday, Feb. 23 as a result of a brain aneurysm. She is fondly remembered by her family and friends as a vivacious spirit who was well known for her zest for life, always infusing a sense of joy, humor and celebration wherever she went.
Jana spent the last several years of her life devoted to raising her children and caring for her mother with the same joyful energy she brought to all things in life.
Jana was enormously proud of the loving children she has left behind, to include son and daughter-in-law Joshua and Heather Barnes; son, Jeffrey Barnes; son and daughter-in-law, Dan and Jamie Barnes; and daughters, Summer and Shanae Vega. She was a devoted grandmother to Jeffrey Jr., Jasper, Michelle, Emma and Cole, and was excitedly looking forward to the birth of her sixth grandchild, expected in July.
Jana’s generosity of spirit was felt beyond her immediate family, as she is loved as a surrogate mother to many.
Jana is also survived by her father, Ron Bartley Sr.; sister and brother-in-law, Nicole and Rick Behrendt; brother and sister-in-law, Ron Bartley and Cheryl Stevens; and sister, Amber Smith. In addition to her devastated family, Jana also leaves behind an extensive network of friends who have warmly come together to remember the deeply kind, authentic, generous and loving person that she was.
A graveside memorial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15 at the East Line Street Cemetery in Bishop with a celebration of life to follow at the Elks Lodge. All friends and family are welcome to attend.
