Husband, father, and dear friend Bob Schroeder passed away Feb. 25, 2014 in Gardnerville, Nev., with his beloved wife of 54 years, Joanne, by his side.
Bob was born near St. Louis, Mo. on Dec. 29, 1929 and was the only son to his parents; Emil Fredrick Karl Schroeder and Thelma (Quast) Schroeder. In 1950, Bob enlisted in the U.S. Army achieving the rank of Corporal as a Finance Officer during the Korean War”.
Upon his honorable discharge from the armed forces, Bob attended Compton City College and went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree from Long Beach State University. Bob later earned a Masters Degree from Claremont Graduate School. In 1959 Bob married his wife Joanne and raised four children with her.
Bob and Joanne lived in Claremont but fell in love with the Eastern Sierra while visiting their children Bev and Brad in Mammoth Lakes. In 2004, Bob sold his firm, Medical Administration Services Inc. and moved to Bishop where he started a small tax preparation and management consultant firm. Bob served for more than 50 years with the Fraternal Order of Free and Accepted Masons, for which Bob was a Past Master and member of both Claremont Lodge No. 436 and Winnedumah Lodge No. 287.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Emil Fredrick Karl Schroeder and Thelma (Quast) Schroeder; and by his eldest son, Bradley Scott Schroeder.
Bob is survived by his wife, Joanne (Liscomb) Schroeder of Bishop; sister, Mary (Schroeder) Johnson of Lavern; daughter, Beverly Christine Schroeder of Bishop; daughter, Patricia Jean Hembrey of Hemet; and son, Robert James Schroeder of Upland. Bob’s grandchildren include Nici and Natasha Podskalan, Stacey and Scotty Bohnenberger and Bradley Schroeder; and great-grandchild, Zoey Bohnenberger.
A celebration of life will be held in Bob’s honor at the Masonic Lodge in Claremont, date pending.
