Thomas Franklin Ingersoll
1940-2014

Tom was born in Watsonville on Sept. 17, 1940 to Dee and Mildred Ingersoll. As a teen he worked in the lettuce fields in Salinas.
Fresh out of high school, he married Norma Grubb and he began his Forest Service career in the Los Padres National Forest at Arroyo Seco. A short time later he transferred to the Cuyama area, where their two children were born. In 1974 he transferred to the Inyo National Forest at Bishop. After he and Norma divorced, he married Frances Farrell, the love of his life and his partner for 33 years.
During his 35 years with the Forest Service, he held positions as a fire prevention officer, fire management officer, logistical officer and law enforcement officer. Tom had a great passion for the logistics involved in firefighting, the safety of his fellow officers, the integrity within law enforcement, and the camaraderie of those he had the pleasure of working with. He retired in 1993.
Upon his retirement, he drove crew carrier busses to fires throughout California. Additionally, he and Frances spent 12 years managing hotels and inns in the King City and Morro Bay areas.
Tom is survived by his wife, Frances; his daughter, Sandra Baxter-D’Auteuil (Dave); son, Mark Ingersoll (Kris); stepdaughter, LuAnn Barron (Mike); stepson, J. Patrick Farrell (Rhonda); eight grandchildren, Michael, Bobby, Shawn, Tyler, Logan, Jordan, Cory and Katie; as well as three great-grandchildren, Thomas, Jonathan and Loralei.
Tom was an AWESOME dad, grandpa and great-grandpa and he loved spending time with his family. Tom was a brilliant story teller with an incredible sense of humor. He is well-loved and will be missed greatly. GO RAMS!
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Assembly of God Church, 615 Monterey Ave., Morro Bay, CA.
