Born Sept. 18, 1953 in Melrose, Mass., eight-year Bishop resident Stephen Johnson passed way at home with his family by his side on Jan. 20, 2014.
Upon graduating from Melrose High, Stephen went on to pursue a degree in Science from the University of Massachusetts. After graduation he worked at a toxicology lab in Boston until moving to Laguna Niguel in 1983 where he continued to work in the same field. For 12 years, Stephen drove up to Bishop from Mission Viejo every other weekend to visit his son Daniel, and was eventually able to move here in 2005. He continued in the medical field running the lab at the Family Health Centre then worked at the hospital for a few years. His life revolved around his son. Stephen became active in Boy Scouts, camping, hiking, basketball and was an avid sports fan. He loved his cats and took care of many strays.
He leaves his son, Daniel Ward Johnson of Bishop; sisters, Eileen Jacobson and husband Don of Massachusetts and Diane Diamond and husband Eric of New Hampshire; sister-in-law, Joy of New Hampshire; nephews and nieces, Matt, Kim and Aislinn Johnson, Kris Jacobson and Tom, Sean and Connor Diamond; special friend, Mary Ward (mother of Daniel); friends of Bill W. and many other friends and co-workers.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Johnny Johnson.
Honoring his request, formal services will not be held.
Stephenâs cremains will be placed at the resting place of his sonâs choosing.
