Whiskey Creek closed

The Whiskey Creek restaurants in Bishop (above) and Mammoth closed Friday, possibly for good. The Bishop restaurant had a sign on the door apologizing for any inconvenience caused by the “temporary” closure. Whiskey Creek owner Greg Alexander, who could not be reached for comment, told another local media outlet this week that the closures are the result of lease issues paired with slow business due to three consecutive dry winters. An employee at the Bishop restaurant said staff was “let go” Friday morning. Whiskey Creek is the second local longtime eatery to shutter its doors this winter. Bar-B-Que Bill’s, a Bishop mainstay, similarly closed overnight with no explanation other than a sign on the door saying the restaurant would be closed for the season. Bar-B-Que Bill’s owners did not respond to a request for comment, but rumors that the eatery was forced to shut down as a result of an Occupational Safety and Health Administration inspection are not true.
