Kenneth ‘Katman’ Howell

Kenneth “Katman” Howell left his body on Thanksgiving morning at home with his family by his side.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland on Sept. 28, 1945, his mother brought him to California on the Queen Mary when he was 8 months old. His childhood was spent in the San Gabriel Valley.
He joined the Air Force when he was 18 and afterwards traveled extensively. He drove his Porsche to Alaska, drove a double-decker bus in Glasgow and made several trips driving a van full of travellers from Amsterdam to Katmandu.
On his spiritual quest he met his Guru, Neem Karoli Baba, in India. Later he traveled to the Rajneesh Ashram in Poona, where he met and married Marcia. They hiked the Himalayas together and lived in Wales and London before returning to the U.S.
They settled in the Owens Valley for the past 32 years, where their two children, Jessica and Dylan, were born and raised.
He is survived by his wife, children and siblings, Jim, Heather and Laurie. He had many dear friends. He will be remembered as a great story-teller of his travels and his spiritual path. He loved music and skiing at June Mountain. He lived a rich and full life.
He will be greatly missed.
