Mammoth District Ranger Jon Regelbrugge has released the Environmental Assessment and draft Decision Notice for the Shady Rest Staging Area project kicking off a 45-day comment period.
The project proposes to build an over-snow vehicle and off-highway vehicle staging area along the Sawmill Cutoff Road near Mammoth Lakes. The staging area would include parking facilities for about 25 vehicles, a loading ramp and restroom facilities.
The project documents, including maps and responses to prior comments are available online at www.fs.fed.us/nepa/fs-usda-pop.php/?project=38834 or can be requested at the Inyo National Forest Supervisorâ€™s Office in Bishop or the Mammoth Welcome Center on Highway 203 in Mammoth Lakes.
A 45-day objection period begins with the publication of a Legal Notice in The Inyo Register (see Pg. 17 of todayâ€™s edition of The Inyo Register).
Objections to the decision will be accepted from anyone who has submitted related comments during scoping or the formal comment period.
