Local law enforcement is getting in the holiday spirit with the Third Annual Eastern Sierra Shop with a Cop event in Bishop.
The Bishop Police Department, Inyo County Sheriff’s Office and California Highway Patrol are teaming up with their Mono County counterparts this Saturday, Dec. 14 to ensure that local youngsters from low-income families get the full Christmas experience.
According to Bishop Police Officers’ Association representative Jessica Scida, the Shop with a Cop event partners each child with a member of the local law enforcement community for a day of fun and, of course, shopping. The cops treat their young partners to breakfast at Whiskey Creek in Bishop, before taking a ride in a squad car, complete with lights and sirens blazing, to the Bishop Kmart.
At the store, the cops help the kids shop for presents for their friends and family, using cash donated by local individuals and service groups.

For full details, including ways to contribute, see the Thursday, Dec. 12 issue of The Inyo Register.
