Sheriff warns of severe winter weather

Extreme winter weather expected to roll in this week has prompted the Inyo County Sheriff’s Department to urge both residents and visitors to stay safe at home and on the road.
According to Sheriff’s Public Information Officer Carma Roper, the department has been notified by the National Weather Service that a severe cold front is forecast in Inyo County for the next 3-5 days with temperatures in the teens.
In response, the Sheriff’s Department issued the following tips to help residents and visitors prepare:
• To reduce the potential for flooding please keep ditches and creeks clean and free from debris. Sandbags can be obtained at all fire stations.
