December 4, 2013

Lights have already been strung by LADWP crews on the “Giant Tree” at Mary Austin Park in Independence in anticipation of Saturday’s Christmas Tree Lighting festivities, which begin and end at the Eastern California Museum a few blocks away. Photos by Jon Klusmire

The public is invited to help usher in the holiday season by singing traditional Christmas carols and helping to light the Independence Community Christmas Tree this Saturday, Dec. 7.
To warm up for the evening and get in the holiday spirit, everyone is invited to gather at the Eastern California Museum, at 155 N. Grant St., starting at 4 p.m. Kids and parents will be able to create some decorative holiday arts and crafts, including decorating Christmas stockings and ornaments to take home. Holiday treats and warm drinks will be served until the group is ready to stroll through the streets starting at about 4:30 p.m.
