Bishop’s branch of the Salvation Army is kicking off its holiday Kettle Bell drive today at Holy Smoke Barbecue then moving right into the Stuff-a-Bus Food Drive and Coats for Kids drive at the Vons/Kmart parking lot Saturday morning.
Teaming up with the Eastern Sierra Transit Authority and several local businesses, the Salvation Army is hoping to generate enough donations to ensure that families in need do not have to go without hot food or warm clothes this winter.
The Kettle Bell kick-off event at Holy Smoke is also a fundraiser for the Salvation Army, with 10 percent of the proceeds from orders at the restaurant going to the charitable organization. Volunteer bell-ringers will begin appearing outside local businesses Friday.
